PROJECT SCOPE
A local Medical Center contacted A-Tech to perform USP 797 environmental monitoring for their pharmacy after getting two failed test results in previous monitoring efforts. A-Tech recommended mitigating the source of the contamination by thoroughly cleaning the immediate space and the duct work serving the space to eliminate and/or minimize any potential sources of bacteria and fungi that had been present in the previous tests. Post-cleaning environmental monitoring was conducted in the space.
ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS
The environmental monitoring included both fungal and bacterial surface and air monitoring. The monitoring was performed in accordance to USP 797 standards and best practices. All equipment and media were thoroughly decontaminated so that no bacteria or fungi would be introduced into the space. A-Tech takes pride in and has the expertise to perform this monitoring to the highest quality standards. When media was incubated in the lab, results showed that fungus or bacteria was no longer present in the air of the space that was sampled. The client felt confident that they were compounding in a sterile environment and had resolved the issue that had been keeping them out of compliance.
